We are allies by understanding and addressing the core needs of individuals and families affected by disability or economic disadvantage. As a result, we improve the quality of life for all.

We are composed of families and individuals, from all over the world, affected by disability (physical, intellectual, social, sensory and others) as well as industry professionals, friends and neighbors. We each share the dignity of being made in the image of our maker as well as the struggles that are a part of the human condition. We believe we are better together than as isolated individuals.

Our Unique Approach

Organizational funding is too often based on measurements other than the goals of the individuals they serve. We are Unique because everything we do begins with individuals. Because of these relationships, we are developing multiple locations within the community which offer benefits to all citizens by pursuing innovative quality-of-life solutions for people and families affected by disability. While we anticipate the cooperative efforts of commercial, non-profit and government organizations, our vision emphasizes approaches that seek to minimize reliance on public services and funding. With a phased approach, we will address people’s needs for: housing, employment, transportation, medical services/care, education and authentic social engagement.

Mission

To form alliances with individuals and families affected by disability or economic disadvantage by understanding and addressing self-identified core needs, thus improving the quality of life for all.

Vision

A changed world where authentic inclusive community participation leads to an acceptance of the beauty and brokenness common to the human condition, where:

    • the stigma between ability and disability disappears,
    • status is not based upon ability, economic position or opportunity,
    • and core needs are met for all.

Philosophy

Caring relationships provide the foundation for collaborative solutions which offer dignity, purpose and value through an integrated community and spiritual life.

Values

  • Respect
      • Every human being is created with unique purpose, ability and value therefore we should celebrate each other.
      • It is our goal to act justly, seek kindness and walk humbly. Therefore, we will not discriminate regarding those we serve on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, gender, religion or sexual orientation.
  • Unity
      • None of us functions as well as we were intended to function. This includes every area of life (mind, body, social relationships, emotions and spirituality).
      • There is no “us” versus “them” … it’s just us … each of us and all of us.
  • Relational Care
      • In the ideal community everyone is seen as having the potential to enrich the lives of others.
      • The best solutions involve intentional cooperation and mutual encouragement – the “Power of Together”.
  • Christian Faith
      • The process of healing is much more valuable than instant cure.
      • While we seek to be a non-exclusive community, we also affirm the values of the good news of Jesus Christ which can uniquely enrich and nurture us.
  • Grace, Joy and Love
      • A personal experience of being comforted enables us to comfort others.
      • Love and joy are essential components of serving each other.
